A native of Toluca, Illinois, Earl began flying lessons in 1976 at Rowe Aviation in Streator. It was a cross country flight and visit to the control tower in Peoria which ultimately led him to become an air traffic controller for the United States Air Force. Earl served as a trainer, and later as a supervisor, for teams of up to 15 air traffic controllers, and held both control tower and radar approach control ratings. As an active member of the Air Force flying club, he served as Safety Officer and volunteered as an FAA Safety Counselor. His 14 years of combined active and reserve duty included support for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After leaving the Air Force, Earl expanded his aerospace and aviation knowledge by traveling extensively, tracking satellites in Micronesia, managing a flying school and learning about aircraft maintenance.
Earl is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and FlightSafety Academy. He holds a Commercial pilot certificate with Instrument and Multi-engine ratings. He joined the Corporate Air Parts team in 1997, first managing the survival department and FAA Repair Station, and currently serves as Manager, Business Development.
Earl resides in West Los Angeles and loves Southern California. In addition to his family and friends, his passion is for anything outdoors – traveling, flying, hiking, ocean kayaking and rowing.
